Studying in a German program for my Master of Biochemistry I received a scholarship that allowed me to carry out a 10-months research project in a foreign country in 2006. Since I am very interested in immunology and autoimmunity I applied to Dr. Kuchroo’s lab and started working on the basic mechanisms of T cell lineages and differentiation together with Estelle Bettelli.

I liked it so much that I decided to return for my PhD-studies after my graduation. Being part of a PhD-program at the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany I started my project in Dr. Kuchroo’s lab in February 2007. At the same time I also received a PhD scholarship from the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds, which allowed me to continue with my project. I am now working specifically on the role of Th17 cells in CNS autoimmunity and the role of IL-23 in T cell differentiation and development.
