I received my undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras where I did both ecology and biochemistry research. I came to Boston in 2003 to pursue a Ph.D. in Immunology at Harvard University. My work in the Kuchroo lab began in 2004, at which time I helped characterize the Tim-3 KO mouse. I have now focused my interest on another member of the Tim family, Tim-4, which is expressed on antigen-presenting cells. It will be interesting to see how this molecule is regulated on APCs, if its expression/ligation affects the APC's phenotype, and of course how the interaction of Tim-4 with its ligand influences a T cell immune response. |
